The AGD - what is it, who's in it, why is it important to us. In addition to numerous positions held on the AGD, Dr. Chris Griffin is currently the Examination Council Chair.  Yes, Dr. Griffin is one of those responsible for writing the Fellowship Examination.  Be sure to tune in tonight to learn about the AGD and the examination process.  

Dr. Griffin is a native of Abbeville, SC.  He graduated the College of Charleston in 1989 and the Medical University of South Carolina School of Dentistry (Charleston, SC) in 1993.  Before returning to the Abbeville / Greenwood area, he completed a hospital based general practice residency at Richland Memorial Hospital (now referred to as Palmetto Health Richland Hospital) in Columbia, SC.  Upon returning home, Dr. Griffin acquired the dental practice of retiring dentist Dr. Edward “Pete” Petit and has practiced for the last 28 years in Greenwood, SC.  He is involved with numerous leadership roles in dental organizations on the local, state and national levels which include the South Carolina Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Academy of Operative Dentistry and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.  On the local level his charitable endeavors include programs such as the Greater Greenwood United Ministries, Untied Christian Ministries of Abbeville County, Healthy Learners, and the South Carolina Dental Association Dental Access Days.  International dental mission experience includes the 2010 Medical Dental Mission Team to Haiti from Main Street United Methodist Church in Abbeville, SC and most recently the 2020 Christian Dental Society dental mission team to Santiago, Dominican Republic.  His wife of 28 years is Kim McCurry Griffin and they have two sons Taylor (age 23) and Tucker (age 21).
